Game Journalism Day 5 - Guide

1. Predict and play
-Prediction
I predict I will get a foundation and then die before crafting a base command unit.
-Play
I managed to craft a base command unit shockingly,but failed to get 3 more cordage to craft my foundation and wall.I had the other materials though.
So I should have focused more on finding cordage and fibre plants as nails and planks are abundant.

2.Write a Guide.
  To be clear this is an early game guide for Subsistence.If you want a late game guide find a different one.After opening a new world what you want to do is gather a lot of from resources from plants and resource bags/boxes.You can find them all around the map.Make sure that you do not fight animals unless you are sure you can take them. The first objective you are trying to complete other than surviving is building a foundation,a wall and a base command unit.This will open up a lot of options for you as you can have base that you won`t lose.Then you should craft a storage unit to store your items that are not essential to carry.From there you can build up a bigger walls to protect your base from animals.Now with your safe base you can continue into the late game of Subsistence.

How to Build
-Health Kit

Find 4 medicinal herbs from plants or med bags and find 1 bio fuel in the med bags.








 Then open your crafting menu and go to the cross tab,select health kit and click craft.






-Campfire                                        
 Collect 5 logs.

                                                      Use 2 to craft sticks.




Then craft the campfire.






-Shotgun
  Collect 7 scrap metal from
 boxes,bags or the ground.                                                       

                                                                                                          

Collect 10 logs and craft 5 planks






Collect 4 cloth by killing rabbits and bears or tearing your pants.
  














Then you craft your shotgun  









Storage Crate

Collect 10 logs to craft 5 planks.

Get 3 cordage by finding them in boxes/bags or finding fibre plants to craft them.

and get 4 cloth by killing animals or tearing your clothes.

Then craft and place your storage crate.

Fibre plant.When picked it gives fibres which can be used to craft rope which is needed for a lot of other items.

Potassium rock.Gives potassium ore when mined.

A person`s basic needs for food and drink for nourishment,clothing and shelter for protection from the environment and oxygen to breath.


What is the definition of the title of the game?
Subsistence is caring for oneself at a minimal level.Ex:The minimum income needed for subsistence.Minimum wage.

A brief description of the game.
Its a typical wilderness survival game set in modern times.You start in the middle of nowhere with a pistol with eight shots,an axe, a glow-stick,an apple,a water bottle and some matches. The goal is to survive the wilds and eventually build a base.

What type of game is it and what does it compare to?
It is a survival game similar to Rust and ARK where you are trying to survive the elements and its creatures.Also you can gather resources to craft useful items and the structures that will eventually become your epic base.

What does it mean to be 'early access'?
For a game to be early access means that people can pay for an early development game and obtain access to the developing game in its Alpha and Beta stages.The developer can then use these funds to continue working on the game while also receiving input from the players that have paid.Early access games are good for developers who do not have a publisher as they can get funds and people to find the bugs and glitches for them.
